The latest initiative against the war on the roads in Bulgaria is with the motto “Keep calm”. The campaign is of the Bulgarian Association of Accident Victims.

The initiative is starting today. It was presented by the President of the Association Vladimir Todorov.

The initiative’s motto and expressive visions are affixed to 12 billboards located along the Thrace highway.

Posters from the Bulgarian Accident Victims Association call on mostly young drivers to slow down and move safely on the road.

The number of billboards will reach 25. They will remain on the highway until September 15, BGNES informs.

The initiators are betting on more fun pictures. The idea is that more serious and edifying messages may not have an effect on young drivers.

The posters have been put up now, because at this time of the year, highway traffic is the most intense.

“As August is a month of many commuters and many crashes. It may be the month of the most injured and killed on the road, unfortunately. We urge drivers to obey the rules. we save some 15 minutes our way, but in the end 15 minutes do not solve anyone’s problem. So, our call is: Drive calmly, “said Todorov, quoted by BNR.

“Take it easy” is the motto of the new initiative of the Bulgarian Association of Accident Victims. It was presented by the president of the association Vladimir Todorov, BGNES reported. Todorov said that 12 initiative billboards have already been put in place and their number will reach 25. Todorov explained that in this case there is no risk of driver distraction because these billboards serve as road signs. He added that there were two types of distraction – internal-telephone dialing, tuning of radio stations and external, and explained that external was not dangerous.

“We have done a lot of campaigns, but this one is different. It is aimed at young people. They are an important focus for us because, in our opinion, they receive books that are not well trained. Adding to the typical characteristics of youth – impatience, expressiveness, rebellion – there is a very dangerous cocktail, which is dangerous on the road and often leads to tragic incidents, “Todorov said and emphasized that Bulgaria and Germany are the only countries allowed to drive 140 km, which is the basis of black statistics. “If you drive on the Trakia motorway with 120 km to the sea it takes 3 hours, and if we drive with 140 km we will arrive with 26 min. Earlier. This time is quite negligible in itself and therefore it is not worth sacrificing our lives to reach 26 minutes earlier at sea, “is the chairman of the disaster victims association. Todorov reported that 359 were the death toll this year, down 40 people from the same period last year. “July, August and September are the bloodiest months. 50-60 people die during them. Between 15 and 20% of accidents are caused by young drivers,” the expert said.
Billboard Association Iva Beca said that billboards have a strong influence on drivers and will provoke them to slow down. “80% of the information is taken with sight. I believe we will be able to get more than 20% of drivers to slow down and get to the sea safely,” Beca said. Georgi Ivanov, who is part of the creative team, worked out the three visions for the campaign, stated that their goal was not to blame, but to provoke drivers to make their own decisions to reduce speed. Desislava Ivanova is the artist of the three animations. “Through a funny call, we are looking to achieve an effect among the drivers. The visions are three. The first vision is for the sea party as it is there and 20 or 30 minutes earlier or later it does not matter to him and he is there waiting for when The second vision shows that the sea is there and that it will not disappear. We have put a plug in to show how absurd the sea changes during the journey to it.The third vision is with a leopard and directed to young people who drive expensive and powerful cars and it comes to them to prove that there is no need to prove anything high Here we support the call with the scientific fact that even the cheetah is up to 120 km / h, “the creative director summarized.

The reason for the initiative is the black statistics, according to which in the last 2017 alone, nearly 700 people were killed in road accidents and over 6,000 were injured, most of them young people. The Bulgarian Accident Victims Association is convinced that because of the fun element, this initiative will affect the younger generations and the number of victims and victims of crashes will decrease. The banner “Drive calmly!” Displayed on the billboards, along with expressive visions along the Thrace highway, will make drivers more cautious on the road and comply with speed limits.

Vladimir Todorov – Association of Accident Victims:
“We have done many campaigns over the years. A lot of them were scary, warning, edifying, with crushed cars, with some messages that scared people and we decided this time to do something with a smile, something with a mood. In addition, this campaign is aimed at young people, and they do not like to have a constructive and mentoring tone. “

The billboards are located along the Thrace highway and are 12 so far, but their number is expected to increase to 20. They are located about 50 km from each other and will stand on the road to the sea until mid-September.

Iva Beca – Chairman of the Board of the Outdoor Advertising Association:

“Last year’s accident statistics were 1 person who hit a billboard, 100 in a tree – there are no inscriptions there and a lot of people hit the wagons. I hope I answered your question. “
